Natural Girls on Your TV?!
Hi, BGLH!!!!
Have any of you noticed how on commercials natural women and young females have been featuring in them? I think its pretty amazing how black females and males are featuring in more commercials and television shows. Especially more natural females!!! How do you all feel about it?…

Natty Love
I love every single spiral
Of every single curl
I love the way it wraps and hugs my finger
Gently
As I twirl.
I love to stretch it to my waist
I pull my coils
Down
Down
Down
And watch them spring back into place.
‘Cause it spins out wildly towards the seas
And swirls up wildly towards the sky
‘Till the people start to orbit
And get to wondering,…

Freedom
It has now been several months, since I decided to go natural. Some would say since I had my own hair in braids for the last ten years, I was already natural. For me, I beg to differ. My whole attitude has changed. I feel free, wonderful and natural. This is what I started with and and this is what I will end up with. I feel liberated,up to a certain point. I have yet to take a picture of my new glorious…

Hand in Hair Syndrome!
Ever since growing my hair to its current length, realising that I have curls, (WOO! Tiny curls, waves, tight ringlets, and lotsa kinks and poofys. I love them all ^_^ ) and I try everything within my power to enhance them, I just cannot keep my hand out of my hair!
Twisting around my fingers, pulling gently, untangling knots etc etc, it's all strangely satisfying, yet I know how bad it is even with my TWA. Though its not just limited to my hair on my head; eyebrows and even eyelashes…

Talking TWA's and BC's in Australia.
In Australia, you'd be pretty hard pressed to find someone who would know what you're talking about when you say things like 'BC', 'TWA' or 'transitioning'. Up until a few months ago I would've been one of those people.
As fate would have it, late one night I found myself on Youtube looking for some 'fro-spiration and I came across some amazing youtubers who sparked for me a greater appreciation of my hair and heritage.
Since then it has blossomed into something amazing and…

I couldn't sleep so I thought I would blog about one of my passions, natural hair. So, what is "hairtistic" you ask? Honestly, it's just a word I came up with while thinking of a title for this blog. However, I will define it as someone who is artistic with hair. The word artistic means having or revealing natural creative skill. Hair + artistic would have to = hairtistic! Having said that, I think this word is a keeper in my…

Freshly Henna'd
After taking about a week to figure out my weekly and daily routine, I finally decided to take the plunge and dye my hair. Something I've always wanted to do, but was never really keen on bleaching it first.
Henna is natural dye, and I figured I'd give it a go! The excitement was overwhelming!
Saying the application of this product is messy is an understatement! It definitely a two-person job as I can't see the back. Even with a small TWA like mine (2/3 inches) it was a tough…

Boho Box Braids--All the Craze!
What's up Ladies?!
Ok soooooo was I the only one who LOVED Solange's boho box braids last summer?
I came across the photo on bglh and I was floored. However I had just cut my hair into a box fade and there was no hair to braid. So when I tired out of wanting my hair short, I started growing it back out and as soon (I mean AS SOON) as I was able to catch the back I bought some kanekalon hair and tried the braids out.
Whew! It was a grueling process. I…

Oatmeal, Honey, and Yogurt Mask
What's up Natural Ladies?!
I have been experimenting with some natural care for my skin and I came across a recipe for a mask you can make at home that has oatmeal, honey and yogurt. I made the mask this past week and since then I have used it twice. I love it and I love the way it makes my skin feel, so I thought I'd share the process for anyone who is interested. It was easy to make and very cheap. It left my skin feeling uber clean and smooth with a glow. I loved it! The…

Hello all, I'm a newbie on BGLH and I recently added some photos. I just noticed that some of my pics are rather small and difficult to see. :( No worries, I'll be uploading more pics and I promise they'll be more eye friendly. :) If you check out my photo albums, you'll see that I've been a natural for long time. Actually, it's been 14 years since I've had a relaxer on my hair and 4 years since I first embraced my natural textured hair. I look forward to connecting, sharing and inspiring…

Newbie on BGLH
My Big Chop was on 11th Feb 2012. And I've never looked back ever since. Relaxing my hair was just a lengthy and stressful process, which I'm glad to see the back off!
But now, after getting some length on my natural afro-hair, I've almost hit a brickwall on how to maintain it! It's only 2 -3 inches in length, but feels like hell for me!
I hope I can gather some pointers on how to maintain my natural 4a/b hair, and even meet fellow women on their journey!
Peace,…

Do Blondes Really Have More Fun?!?!?!??
So ladies in my last post i talked about how i was at the awkward stage with my hair growing progress. At this stage i usually get very frustrated and cut it all off but i decided to make it work. So ive been wanting some color for a while now but was not sure how light i wanted to go. I do hair so getting it done was not a problem the problem was finding the right color. I searched online for different colors and blonde is a color i often…
