So I'm transitioning to my natural hair after years of relaxers. I chopped off a good portion and have been rocking twist outs for some time. I've decided to put in yarn braids to protect my hair and…Continue

How do you keep your edges neat?

Started by Agbeke. Last reply by Leah Nov 7, 2011. 3 Replies

So I alternate between two french braids and flat twist up dos but I've always struggled with my edges...as in I really didn't do much with them. And as a result my styles end up looking a bit rough.…Continue

Protecting My Hair When I Go To Bed

Started by Deneya Carter Aug 26, 2011. 0 Replies

What I do before I go to bed is put my hair in two braids. That makes my hair wavy when I take it out in the morning.

Okay, locsoc, I'd like one and I'd like a giant, satin sleeping cap to put over it to preserve my hair.  Does anyone know anyone who makes mega rasta tam size sleeping caps?

I am joining this group because I had 7 inches of my hair cut off by a "natural hair stylist", I am so traumatized.  I was so concerned about letting her know I would trust her that I forgot about myself.  i live in Canada and the hair growth is difficult due to the dry and cold weather, so I am scrambling to hold on to my length.  I am doing twrists, braids, pony tails, trying to keep it under wraps.  The photo on my profile is one of me uncombed hair when it was long.  I am now moving forward and GROWING IT AGAIN!

I'm a bit late joining the challenge, but I've been using protective styles since the month of September in my hair and I can visibly see the length and my ends are definitely loving sometime off fro the elements. My hair is about 4 1/2 inches so I have to become real creative with the style I choose usually braided, two strand twists, and currently I have braid twists and bantu knots in my hair.

The pictures are from 2 different times that I did them.  I left the first set in for 5 weeks, and I intend on keeping this set in for the same amount of time.  I had a break in between where I did twists and puffs.
