Hello everybody!I thought it would be cool to do a very quick, not invasive intros post so that we can start networking with other naturals in the area. You don't have to share too much, just first…Continue

Do you buy any staple hair products from grocery/specialty stores? This might help someone who is looking for a hard-to-find product in stores like raw shea butter or black soap.Continue

I wanted to put the idea out for a meet up. Of course, this would happen sometime next year, but I wanted to see if there was any interest out there.

Comment by Niya B on March 10, 2012 at 9:40pm Can anyone recommend an awesome braider in the DMV area? I'm currently transitioning and would like to try senagalese twists for a while. I want a braider who is gentle, patient, and concerned with the health of my natural hair. Please HELP!
Hi all,
New to the group. "Hi". Just want to do what I can to keep my natural healthy, strong, and awesome looking. Right now, doing my own experiments with different styles and products, but don't want to go back to my teen years where my hair was left to me and fell out. Big on educating myself to stay beautiful:-) Need advice on where to go and the best products. Once I learn, will share info!!
Comment by Fatima Miller on February 20, 2012 at 2:35pm Peace, My name is Fatima and I am new to the group this is my 5th and final set of Locs. I have had my hair natural for 18 years now, I enjoy not having to have chemical burns, scalp scars, and inhaling chemicals when I have My crown done.I went natural at age17 and I never looked back,I was natural when it wasn't popular for Sister's to wear natural hair or have Locs. I truly love the beauty of being able to not have to have chemicals on my scalp and the ability to have a variety of styles for my Locs. It has been a very liberating expierence.
Comment by DCBillieHoliday on January 4, 2012 at 3:43pm Hey DMV Naturals! I'm new to the group but 6 years loc'd! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the freedom and flexibility of my hair. I am stopped frequently and asked about the style of my hair. Going natural was the best thing I could have done for myself!
Looking forward to connecting with you all and exchanging ideas/styles.

Comment by Jessica on December 24, 2011 at 11:33am Hi Tonia!
Hello beautiful natural ladies of the DMV. My name is Tonia. I started my "Nappy Journey" about a year ago and finally I can say this is the look for me. I've been rocking a transitional look (in my profile pic) for about 9 or 10 months. I'm probably the only "black girl" one who doesn't know a thing about hair LOL....so with that being said I look forward to getting lots of ideas and advice from this sight.

Just an FYI for anyone who has been interested in trying out Curlformers, Sally's has a pretty good deal. If you buy two packs of curlformers, you get the hook for free!
Comment by Juneaumoon on September 28, 2011 at 9:34am Hi Ladies,
I've been loc'ed for 8 years and this weekend I'm planning on doing the BC! Over the summer I cut my locs that were butt-length to just over shoulder length. After the "trim", I lost my attachment to my locs and it created a deep yearning for something new. I've already cut off several so far and it's like I'm seeing my hair for the first time and I'm really excited about the next step in my natural hair journey. This site has been a great source of information for me as I learn my texture that looks to be 4a and how to care for it and the various products and options that are now available. I was natural before I loc'ed and there wasn't much info or products for kinky/curly hair at that time. I am so excited to be a part of this "Natural Revolution".
