Hey, all!!
So here's the thing: I've seen natural shea butter (100%...natural shea) in the hair store, and was so tempted to buy it because I've heard it's so good with keeping hair moisturized and stuff!
But, I was wondering how the heck people use it?! Do you guys blend it up and add other stuff? Or...what should I do...and how to use it?
Thanks in advance!

Shea butter is a staple...I purchase raw shea butter (preferably from Africans) and whip it in to a pudding for my skin and hair. To the whip I make for my hair, I've use olive, coconut, and castor oils to add to it, as well as Rosemary EO. It lasts forever! I use it to seal my ends on beauty day, as well as to smooth down the hair if it's fuzzy.
I posted on my blog about my PJ-ism. http://www.lillian-mae.com/transitioning-guide/my-name-is-lillian-m..., shea butter included :)
Permalink Reply by Melissa B on December 31, 2011 at 4:18pm Thanks for the information! I was just sitting here and rubbing my hair and realized (I need a good moisturizer). I had almost forgot about the shea butter (which I didn't whip it yep)! When I get the chance, I'll go and whip it up! :)
I'm also happy that there is something natural that makes hair happy, instead of all that processed stuff :3. Thanks again

Like other above said I do an homemade butter with several oils, and I use it on my hair body and hand at first I do melted butter now whipped butter
Here's some of what I can use to do one :
Butter : cocoa or mango
Oils : olive, kukui, grapeseed, palm, castor, papaya, coco, passion fruit, babassu etc...
Rosemary, aloe vera gel
I plan to do another one for hair with raw Palm nut oil, Ylang Ylang EO, castor oil, shikakai-henna-lavender- oil infusion, kukui and grapeseed oil. I don't know yet if I melt it or whip it.
For those who have tried both wich one do you prefer Whippin or Melting and why ?
(I'd like to have your opinions ladies ^-^)
Permalink Reply by KnotChocolate on February 29, 2012 at 9:24pm Shea butter is the key to my deep conditioner. I mix it with either all or some of the following: coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, honey and my conditioner (usually Herbal Essences Hello Hydration). I blend it with my hand mixer, apply it to wet hair for about 30 min to 1 hour and it leaves my hair sooooooo freakin' soft!

Shea Butter Creme recipe
- 4 tbs. african unrefined shea butter
- 2 tbs. castor oil
- 2 tbs. olive oil
- 2 to 3 drops of vanilla essence oil
Melt the shea butter slightly in the microwave and mix in other ingredients. Allow to cool. To use, melt a small amount in the palm of your hands by rubbing them together. Apply to hair as needed - especially the ends.
The castor and olive oils will penetrate the hair and scalp; the shea butter will seal in the moisture; vanilla makes it smell good.
